Administration

Principal
Mrs. Laurie Wages
I am so excited to be part of the King George Elementary family! I've been an educator for over 25 years and truly believe there’s nothing better than seeing students grow, laugh, and learn each day.
Before becoming principal, I served as the Coordinator of Preschool and Mandated Services for King George County Schools, supporting our littlest learners and their families. I've also taught special education, worked as a 504 specialist, and led early childhood programs — I believe that every child’s journey is unique and worth celebrating!
My favorite part of being a principal is getting to know students and families, cheering on teachers, and creating a school where everyone feels welcome, valued, and loved.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our four amazing kids, and our pup, Coco.
I am proud to call King George Elementary School home and feel lucky everyday to lead such an incredible community of Eagles!

Mrs. Kristy Cowan
I am excited to serve as the Assistant Principal of King George Elementary! I began my career in education teaching kindergarten and 3rd grade before stepping into the role of Instructional Technology Liaison. I had the privilege of serving as the Assistant Principal at Sealston Elementary for three years before joining the KGES family in 2024. I’m passionate about supporting students, teachers, and families as we work together to create an engaging and positive learning environment.

Assistant Principal
Mrs. Amanda Hurst
As the Special Education Assistant Principal at King George Elementary School, I have the privilege of overseeing our Special Education Department, which includes our amazing preschool program. My journey in education started as a paraprofessional, and over the years I’ve served as a special education teacher and a Teacher on Administrative Assignment for King George County Schools. Every step has deepened my passion for helping students grow, supporting teachers, and building an inclusive community where every child can thrive.
